Carolyn Webb was born in Houston, TX at Jefferson Davis Hospital to Mitchell Harris and Wilburt Bolden. She was the only child. She attended Kashmere High School in the 5th Ward/Kashmere Garden Area. After graduating with honors in 1962, she went to Huston-Tillotson College and majored in Political Science. She was very active on campus. One of her proudest accomplishments was pledging in the Alpha Kappa Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta in 1963.

She knew very early in life that she wanted to be a teacher. After graduating from college in 1966, she participated in Teach For America and began her career as a high school history teacher in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Several years later after moving back home to Houston, she met Arie Webb. Carolyn moved to San Francisco to be with Arie, while she taught at Benjamin Franklin High School. They dated for several years and eventually got married. Carolyn desired to further her education and attended San Francisco State University, where she earned her Masters Degree in Education. In February of 1974, she gave birth to a daughter, Shanda Nikelle Webb, and in September 1975 she had a son, Travere Jali Webb.

Years later, Carolyn and Arie divorced and she moved back home to Houston, TX. She taught at Booker T. Washington for some years, but she spent most of her teacher career at M.B. Smiley High School in North Forest ISD teaching History. After leaving Smiley, she taught at Oak Village Middle School and B.C. Elmore, her last teaching job in Houston. She left North Forest ISD in 1986.

In 1987, she and her kids moved to Atlanta, GA. Most of the time there she worked at Morris Brown College with the Upward Bound Program and as a substitute teacher at St. Pius X High school. In 1992, Carolyn moved back to Houston and worked for Harris County Juvenile Probation Department. Then later became the Outreach Coordinator for the Attorney General's Office-Child Support Division where she ended her career.

Carolyn loved helping others and lived an accomplished life, but teaching children was her main passion. Carolyn always made a lasting impact on everyone she met. Her beautiful spirit will be missed by so many people that she touched in her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Shanda Webb, son, Travere Webb, and three grandchildren Anthony Berry Jr., Darius Berry, and Amylah Webb and host of cousins and dear friends.
