Obituary

Brother Lujack Russell was born on January 24, 1950 in Houston, Texas.  He was the fourth of six siblings.  After the death of his father at the age of three he and two of his siblings relocated with their mother to Monroe, LA.  Bro. Russell accepted Christ at a very young age and was baptized at Olive Branch Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA.  He joined Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church, June 1983, under the leadership of Rev. C. W. Wallace.  He was an active member of the Male Chorus until his job relocated, a member of Deacon Family Ministry #5, a Sunday School teacher and a teacher for fifteen years for the Married Couples Church School class, along with his wife.

July 9, 1983, he married Bobbie J. Crump.  To this union he gained one son, and by his previous marriage one daughter.  He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Lieutenant Russell; step-father, Johnny Goldsmith; mother, Verdell Goldsmith; and sister Jacquelyn Russell.

Bro. Russell graduated from Richardson High School in 1968 and was a graduate of Bishop College in Dallas, Texas in 1973, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minored in Chemistry.

He was formerly employed by Sun, Baroid and Superior Oil Companies for ten years as a Senior Drilling Fluid Engineer and Drilling Supervisor. Five of those years he worked in various locations in Alaska including West Sak, Prudhoe Bay and the North Pole, the other five were in Louisiana and the Texas Gulf area.  He taught Algebra and Basic Mathematics at Crosby High School for 1 year.  He was employed and retired from Garda World on July 30, 2021 after thirty-four years of service as a Crew Leader, Vault and Route Supervisor.  He loved teaching, taking pictures, fishing, reading, traveling, eating out, working with his hands and helping people.

On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, Bro. Russell transitioned to his heavenly home and leaves to cherish his memory: his faithful and devoted wife of thirty-eight years, Bobbie J. Russell, two children, Dr. Matasha Thomas (Cedric) of Houston, TX; Kevin Crump of Crosby, TX; siblings – Sandra Boyd (Charles) of West Monroe, LA; Mayomey Lawson of West Covina, CA, Willa Jean Glover of Inglewood, CA; and Lieutenant Russell, Jr. of Norfolk, VA; mother-in-law – Essie M.
